Planting processes

Each project is planned according to the area so the best choices for each one of the trees are made. The stages of the reforestation project are the following:

1. Site selection

We prioritize protected areas that have suffered degradation processes. These are delimited, reviewed and geo-referenced with GPS technology.

2. Selection of species and type of plant to use

The species and types of plants are selected based on local climatic conditions and the type of forest/area to be recovered, as well as the specific characteristics of the species, the need for irrigation and the ecological/social function that the reforestation will fulfill.

3. Reforestation design

Based on the information collected, we establish the reforestation project pen to paper. This should represent, with the greatest possible degree of fidelity, the result of the reforestation.

4. Reforestation planning

At this stage, the reforestation operation process is defined: dates, time, tools and supplies, labor, irrigation system, costs, etc.

5. Planting

At this point, the planting process can start. The choice of the correct environment for each one of the species is 100% ensured thanks to the previously defined design and methodology.

The planting process consists of the following steps:

1. The soil is divided into squares of 30 x 30 x 30 cm.

2. A sufficiently broad planting hole is dug to completely insert the roots of the plant.

3. A wooden structure is placed next to the plant until it is firm.

4. The soil is compacted with the hands until the plant is firm.

5. An individual protector is placed and fixed to the wooden structure.

6. Plant protection

By using individual protectors, each of the plants will be safe from eventual mechanical damage, such as the impact of the wind or herbivore animals, as well as from extreme weather conditions (for example radiation or temperature).

7. Follow-up and monitoring

Reforestation projects boast of an annual monitoring and follow-up plan to verify the status of the reforestation and the plants, allowing to take action in time in case of any problem. The monitoring is carried out during the first 5 years since the planting.
